PERTH: Media content and public relations firm — Perth Media Pty Ltd — has opened a new office in Nedlands in line with continuing expansion plans.

The development is the latest news in a series of organic growth milestones for the Perth-based small business.

Perth Media managing director Cate Rocchi said: “Perth Media has, to date, been a small operation but we have consistently built powerful global profiles for our clients through tailored integrated media and communications services.

“We act in an advisory, creative and media service capacity and have a strong network of journalist and broadcast partners and connections, so are uniquely placed to deliver global-standard media management services in the sectors of finance, mining, renewables and agribusiness.”

Perth Media was established in 2015. It rebranded from Cate Rocchi Communications which began in 2011.

Major clients include: resources companies Australian Vanadium (ASX:AVL), VSUN Energy and Bryah Resources (ASX: BYH); urbi; Partners in Grain; and Rockcliffe winery.

The Perth Media team now includes editor/writer Torrance Mendez (formerly of The West Australian).

“Our team — which has welcomed high calibre artists, photographers, former reporters and film makers — produces some of Australia’s best, most consistent media content for corporates,” Ms Rocchi said. “It has taken many years to assemble productive working relationships with such a talented and professional group. We have also been careful to grow our business conservatively, so quality has remained excellent.”

Perth Media values include: staying true to the principles of integrity, authenticity and clarity; continuous improvement; and innovative thinking.

“We remain focused on improving media outcomes for our clients and enjoy the challenge of mixing social and traditional media as we embrace the communications of the future,” she said.

The company’s current list of services are: script/copy writing, investor relations management, content creation, blogs, photography, videography, social media strategy and delivery, infographics, strategic media advisory and support, campaign research, publicity, global TV, radio and press coverage, media training, CV writing and speech writing. Packages are available.

“We know how to achieve publicity and we will give clients authentic advice on which stories and media services they need to reach their customers,” Ms Rocchi said.

Perth Media Pty Ltd is now located at 47 Hampden Road, Nedlands, Perth. For the next four weeks (until November 15, 2018) the company is hosting some rarely-available media release writing sessions ($350) and media presentations, by appointment. There are only eight slots available. Terms and conditions apply.

There are other key developments ongoing such as a website rebrand, which will be launched in 2019.

Facebook Drives Sales, Builds Brands and Increases Google Rankings

'Your company may have a Facebook page, but is it embracing the social media?'

Facebook is rated the #1 social media platform in the world, with 1.19 billion users. Creating a facebook profile and uploading engaging content brings huge benefits – it extends your digital footprint, reaches new and existing customers and creates brand recognition.

Why Facebook?

·      More than half of Australia’s total population is active on facebook, the average user spends 55 minutes per day scrolling through their newsfeed.

·      When it comes to being a brand on Facebook, 80% of users prefer to connect with that brand through facebook (Opposed to over the phone, email or through the website).

·      Facebook allows two-way communication with your followers and creates a sustainable relationship with the audience.

What can your business achieve from having an active, engaging facebook profile?

1. Increase sales

2. Increase brand recognition

3. Consistent and active online presence

4. Broaden customer base

5. Creates and strengthens relationship with followers

6. Creates a channel of communication with customers

7. Optimize search ranking

8. Improve digital footprint

Consider Facebook as your business’s online home base, as it allows you to display all relevant information and spread content such as blog posts, events, deals, photos, videos, milestones and so much more. Facebook’s power comes from its ability to target a small but highly curated audience, therefore as a business on facebook the more you tell the right story the better Facebook can target your audience.

Many are still skeptical of the social media giant’s upside. Here are some short case studies from Facebook Business that prove its worth.

Toyota Australia: To pre-launch its all-new Prius, they used Canva, carousel and video ads on facebook to reach over 7.6 million people and increase the number of test-drives by 69%.

7-Eleven Australia: The international chain saw a 77% lift in app downloads after launching a combined Facebook and Instagram campaign to amplify its mass-market advertising in Australia

QANTAS: Used Facebook’s video ads to promote its latest brand campaign, they had 7.2 million views and 6 million Australians were reached in one month

Loreal Australia: Using facebook’s photo and video ads, the global beauty brand recruited 50,000 Australian women to take its anti-ageing moisturiser challenge, addressing scepticism in the skincare market and achieving record market shares.

In saying this, simply having a profile isn’t enough. Here are some simple steps you can follow to optimize your profile

  • Make your profile photo your logo and have an engaging cover photo
  • Have a ‘call to action’ button, offering the user to ‘sign up’ or ‘see more’. This could link to a newsletter subscription or link to the website
  • Every section should be completed as much as possible (use key words that searchers will use to find businesses in your industry)
  • Content you share should be original
  • Post original text/visuals, unauthorized use of content can result in legal penalties and google rankings falling
  • Schedule your posts, this allows you to be organized and map out your social media strategy
  • Share your website content through Facebook, this drives traffic to your website
  • Share exclusive deals to Facebook followers only
  • Follow other industry-related pages
  • Respond to comments and engage with followers

Beautiful visuals can transform your media or marketing campaign. Here is some advice for those hiring photographers to update their image. Perth Media hires some of Australia's best photographers, in Perth and Melbourne. Half-day rate for all images captured (including news shots and portraits), plus some digital upgrades, is less than $1000.

1.       Relax (make sure shoulders are straight not hunched), smile and have fun.

2.       Think about what colours suit you, both in makeup and clothing. If time, take several outfits.

3.       Clothing: If your photo shoot is every five years, make sure you choose simple, classic styles, so your image doesn't date. Make sure don't wear busy or extreme patterns. Simple neutral colours are often great.

4.       Makeup. Make sure to blend your foundation and look your best. Less is often more.

5.       Men. If you have a poor complexion, apply foundation.

6.       Match your look with your job. Suits, shirts and classic dresses are best for corporate.

7.       Performers: use props such as hats and striking makeup.

8.       Comfortable: make sure clothes fit well and makeup is appropriate.

9.       Background. Banners: take shots with corporate logos in the background for future stock photo use. News: think geography and place. Perth city or the Swan River in the background is often good or a local suburb landmark or, for business, in front of minesite or wharf, depending on your customers. Think about the uses for the photos: news/magazine stories; websites, linkedin profile, and personal. Make sure the photographer knows what you want.

10.    Know your best angle.
